A great thank you to everyone for their participation and for the NCWHA for inviting us to the show!
BAFTA members as well as a couple of other Fox Trotters participated and had such a good time.
Several BAFTA members stated how much they really enjoyed seeing all of the breeds of horses show at their best.
The first region 1 show of the year was a great success and it would not have been possible without all of our BAFTA members that are also CFTA members and supporters!
The weekend of April 11&12th the California Fox Trotter Association hosted a wonderful Fox Trotter horse show that was judged by Donnie Daugherty and then we were all lucky enough to participate in a clinic taught by Donnie on Sunday - double score!
The show had beautifully turned out Fox Trotters everywhere, including a 9 horse Model Mare Class!
It was a refreshing moment to be participating in such a fun event that was attended by more than 10 BAFTA members - the environment was fun, lighthearted and absolutely worth the drive for our members that drove down from Northern California.
Thank you so much to our CFTA members for always being so welcoming and a BIG thank you to BAFTA and CFTA Member Mickey Fournier for all of her hard work in putting together such a great clinic!
Congratulations to our 2014 High Point winners! The competition was tough with so many great horses out there!
The 3rd Annual BAFTA All Gaited Horse Show was our most successful yet. With more than 40 horses entered we had a fabulous turn out and everyone had a fun time.
Our judge, Debbie Rash, did a wonderful job of judging all of the different breeds that participated, including American Saddlebreds, Morgans, Peruvian Pasos and Tennessee Walking horses, in addition to the Fox Trotters that were present.
Here are some photos from our fun filled day!
This summer BAFTA was really excited to join the NCASHA at the Watsonville Summer Classic. What started as a quick idea quickly turned into a long term exclusive partnership and we have to say:
WHAT AN AMAZING SHOW!
Our members has such a good time! The weather was wonderful, the awards were over the top and the participation was fantastic - Our classes had lots of horses and the competition was amazing - what a great new experience for our association!
Our members had a blast. Susan Lokker-Hewitt and her new mare had their debut horse show together and Aleina did wonderful - calm. cool and happy to be there, Sophie even shoed her in the youth class and another open gaited class and did such a fine job - we are so proud of out youth riders.
Melissa Junkel debuted in her very first ever horse show and did a wonderful job.
Carly Chase enjoyed trying some new classes in her third ever horse show and all of the youth riders represented the Fox Trotters well.
BAFTA was also excited to welcome Pamela Ellison to this show - she drove up all the way from south of San Diego and we had so much fun spending time with Pam and Shelly.
Don't miss out on this show in 2015 - it is sure to be one of the favorites and we can't wait to participate!
In May of 2014 BAFTA hosted our first ever Play Day. Our Play Day was hosted at the Kinnicutt's ranch, which ended up being a prefect location - it was easy to get to for everyone and had plenty of space.
We had over 20 horses come to the play day and it was so much fun! We had great prizes, several sponsors for the event and everyone seemed to be laughing and having a great time.
The first Annual October Classic was another milestone for the Bay Area Fox Trotter Association - This was our first year hosting two independent horse shows. Again, it was a lot of work but in the end, the outcome was wonderful and we have began another new tradition to add to our upcoming years.
If you missed any of our shows this year, please do be sure to save the dates for 2014 - we welcome anyone and everyone who wants to show their horses and have a great time!

in April of 2013 BAFTA members returned to Monterey California to participate in the Monterey Springfest Horse Show.
BAFTA hosted our very first horse show, as a new association, in September 2012. We had such a good time! Of course there was a lot to learn, a lot of work involved as we were starting from scratch, but at the end of the day we had done a great job, our participants had a wonderful time and we learned a lot!
The Bay Area Fox Trotter Association blog is a great place to find and share member stories and browse club photos.
